Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the reason I lost a weekend. It's a turn-based RPG where you build a party of four out of a growing roster, each with their own skill branches, and the fights actually punish lazy positioning. Enemies telegraph their moves a turn ahead, so battles become little puzzles rather than stat checks.
The writing is better than it has any right to be. There's a slow-burn plot about a fading kingdom, and side characters get real arcs instead of fetch-quest filler. Leveling feels meaningful because respec costs matter, so you commit to a build and live with it.
My one gripe is the energy system on the daily events, but the main campaign has no such limits. If you want a proper RPG that respects your intelligence on a small screen, start here.
What we liked
- Tactical turn-based combat with real depth
- Strong writing and character arcs
- Meaningful build choices in the skill tree
