How to build a party that doesn't fall apart

April 21, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

Every time I start a new mobile RPG, I make the same mistake: I stack my party with damage dealers because big numbers feel good. Then I hit the first real boss and get flattened.

The fix is boring but true — you need roles. Someone who takes hits, someone who keeps the party alive, and someone who controls the flow of a fight with debuffs or stuns. Damage matters least, because a dead damage dealer does zero.

In games with skill trees, resist the urge to spread points thin. A specialized character usually outperforms a jack-of-all-trades, especially when fights reward setups and combos.

Pay attention to turn order and speed stats too. Acting first often decides a fight before it really begins. A slower party can win, but you'll fight every battle on the back foot.

Test builds on trash mobs before committing to expensive respecs. The two minutes you spend experimenting will save you an hour of frustration later.
